Mt Earnslaw and Pluto Peak, 12-13 March 2011

After last year's crossing from the Rees to the Dart via Sir William Peak and Bedford Valley, we explored yet another way to shortcut the Rees/Dart track, this time via Pluto Peak and Spaniard valley. This ambitious weekend saw us going up to Esquilant Biv on Saturday allowing for a a pre-dinner ascent of the East Peak of Earnslaw. On Sunday we sidled to Pluto Col, from where easy scree slopes led to the bottom of the South Faces of Pluto Peak. From here an airy ledge leads around the west face to a gully on the north side, which brought us all the way to the summit. Back on Pluto Col, we descended into Spaniard Valley and from there into the Dart via Valpys Pass. Team: Aaron Whitehead, Danilo Hegg, Jaz Morris and Nina Dickerhof.
