Red Hills-Northern Olivines-Thomson Range, 15-24th April 2017

Wanting to see as much of the precious autumn sun as possible, we stuck to the tops on this combined Easter and Anzac break and traversed the Red Hills, Northern Olivine and Thomson Ranges. Day 1: Up the Cascade to above Woodhen Creek. Day 2: To bushline on the Red Hills Range. Day 3: Along the Red Hills Range to Peridot Stream. Day 4: Climb of Red Mountain and descent to the Cascade. Day 5: Up into Captains Creek. Day 6: Sidle into Falls Creek to the Northern Olivine Range north of Joe Peak. Day 7: Along the range to the basin east of Tararua Peak. Day 8: Over Tararura Peak and Staircase Mountain into the true-right branch of the Martyr. Day 9: Climb of Mt Dagon and along the Thomson Range to Pt 1056m. Day 10: Down Carl Creek to the Jackson Road via Lakes Leeb and Clarke.
